Adjust their utility usage to save time and resources using the tailored package EMS provided.

As part of a £1 billion regeneration programme for southeast London, developer Berkeley Homes began a four-phase, £100 million development in February 2010 to provide new-build commercial, residential, and office facilities in Woolwich. Ideally positioned for Crossrail and Dockland Light Railway and national rail services arriving in 2018, the new development will integrate bold architectural forms alongside existing Grade I and II listed buildings in the vicinity.

Working in tandem with local restrictions

One requirement of building this development was to deliver a temporary electrical and mechanical system that could be economical and tailored to each phase of construction as it progressed. Considering their early involvement in the project, EMS (UK) LTD was also aware of the time restrictions for site activities imposed by local planning regulations.

EMS (UK) LTD leveraged its relationship with the local utility network by delivering and installing on-site a comprehensive, tailored package that provided connectivity to existing utilities within the specified time constraints imposed by planning regulations.

The dedicated high voltage and low voltage substations EMS installed to meet the demands of the specialist equipment and plant to be used on-site throughout construction. EMS (UK) LTD also provided a dedicated monitoring area for energy and water consumption during the first two phases of this development.

Scalable solutions provide long-term benefits.

The services EMS (UK) LTD provided will enable a lower-cost solution to be implemented, and help determine if site activities requiring heavy energy consumption for example during the winter could be alternatively programmed to save energy.

The contractor’s team has been able to adjust their utility usage to save time and resources using the tailored package EMS provided. They also benefited from streamlining their site activities through the services of a trusted and experienced one-stop provider. The benefits are such that they are already considering commissioning EMS (UK) LTD for their future projects.
