Founder & Chairman
Kevin Cook, born in 1956, is the esteemed Chairman of Electrical Mechanical Services (EMS), a company he founded in 1992 that has grown from a modest team into a robust enterprise employing over 200 staff. With a career spanning more than five decades in electrical engineering, Kevin’s journey began with an apprenticeship in East London, leading to significant contributions to landmark projects such as Canary Wharf, the HSBC Tower, and The O2. His commitment to excellence, rooted in the values of diligence and perseverance instilled by his parents, has shaped EMS into a beacon of innovation and reliability in the industry.
A devoted family man, married for over 45 years with two sons and four grandchildren, Kevin has cultivated EMS as a family-oriented business. His brothers, sisters, wife, and sons all play integral roles, with his sons holding senior managerial positions after completing apprenticeships and gaining global experience. EMS has trained over 100 apprentices, fostering a close-knit community where employees are valued as family, many remaining with the company for over 20 years. The company’s legacy includes pioneering projects like battery-powered lighting systems for Buckingham Palace, reflecting its forward-thinking ethos.
EMS’s impact extends beyond London, with successful contracts in Manchester and a notable project in Bosnia, installing facilities for the American Army under challenging conditions. Committed to education and opportunity, EMS provides apprenticeships and mentorship to nurture talent. Under Kevin’s leadership, the company’s resilience and adaptability have earned it consideration for The King’s Warrant, a testament to its enduring success and Kevin’s vision that hard work and determination can achieve greatness, regardless of one’s background.
