Building a Sustainable Future

Built Responsibly. Delivered Sustainably.

At EMS, sustainability is not a statement — it's a standard. We approach every project with a commitment to environmental responsibility, social value, and long-term resilience.

Our Commitment

We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations, products, and services across every site we support. Our aim is to align business growth with positive environmental stewardship — proving that commercial performance and sustainability can move forward together.

EMS is ISO 14001 accredited and aligned with national targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our action plans are reviewed annually, and our carbon footprint is tracked, reported, and managed across key operational areas.

Our Priorities

🌱

Environmental

We reduce emissions, eliminate waste, and design systems that minimise environmental harm.

💷

Economic

We improve operational efficiency to ensure sustainable profitability for clients and the business.

🤝

Social

We protect the well-being of employees, site operatives, and the communities surrounding our projects.

Key Actions We Take

🔌

Low-Impact Installations

Our temporary electrical and plumbing systems are designed to use minimal energy and water, with site-specific control strategies and integrated monitoring.

🔋

Battery-Powered Technology

EMS designed and introduced a battery-powered 2ft LED site light, reducing diesel reliance and enabling cable-free lighting for heritage and low-impact projects.

♻️

Waste Reduction

We return and reuse cable drums, fittings, pipework, and other materials wherever possible. Light fittings are 100% recyclable, and packaging is eliminated at source through direct-to-site logistics.

🌍

Carbon Management

Our measured carbon footprint decreased from 5,109 tonnes in 2022–2023 to 4,317 tonnes in 2023–2024. We continue to monitor fleet usage, fuel, delivery routes, energy draw, and supplier impact.

Measurable Progress (2022–2024)

Category 2022–23 CO₂ (tonnes) 2023–24 CO₂ (tonnes)
Total Emissions 5,109 4,317
Vehicle Usage 310 268 (targeted)
SWA Cable Reuse 1,517 Tracked
Plant & Equipment Usage 185.7 Tracked
Lighting Reuse 243.8 Tracked
Electricity Consumption 36 25 (targeted)
Water Consumption 0.16 0.12 (targeted)

These figures reflect the result of targeted changes in procurement, engineering, and logistics planning.
